    HHIC welcomes “forward-looking” Hydrogen Strategy

    The Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC) has today welcomed the release of the long-awaited Hydrogen Strategy by the UK Government. The Strategy confirms that hydrogen will play a key role in decarbonising many sectors of the economy, including domestic heating which accounts for a significant portion of emissions from the UK’s buildings.

    With new chair at the helm, HHIC continue to lead the way

    Steve Keeton, Director of External Affairs and Future Portfolio at Vaillant Group UK, has been elected as the new chair of the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council, HHIC. Steve has had a long career within the industry. Steve has been in the industry since leaving University, working with Vaillant Group as U.K. R&D Director from 2000, then in 2008 as their Commercial Head of System Technologies and has since progressed to his current role of Director of External Affairs and Future Portfolio.

    Boilers bounce back as consumers invest in home renovation

    Sales of domestic gas boilers bounced back from the Covid downturn, according to new figures from the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC). Figures released today show that 2021 looks set to be a record year for gas boiler sales, with year-to-date sales up a staggering 41 per cent from 2020, with a 12-month average sales figure increasing by 14 per cent.

    UK boiler manufacturers lead EU in committing to hydrogen future, PM told.

    The Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC) has written to the Prime Minister confirming they have reached agreement in principle with UK boiler manufacturers, that they will support any future UK Government legislation which mandates all new models of domestic boilers to be “hydrogen-ready” from 2025. This commitment is several years ahead of similar action being proposed within the EU.

    Protect your heating systems from The Beast From The East 2.0

    Following a Met Office warning of potential extreme UK weather such as a return of ‘The Beast From The East’ the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC) are reissuing their consumer information guide to ‘protecting home heating systems’, which can be used by a heating engineer to explain the risks and the remedial action required, as well as what action customers can take should their condensate pipe freeze.

    HHIC update condensate pipe guidance following weather warning

    The Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC) are today, 6th January 2021, issuing their updated ‘installer guide to condensate discharge pipe installation’. This comes following a warning from the Met Office of ice warnings with the 'Beast from the East 2.0' to hit in days, bringing an enhanced risk of snow and widespread frost almost anywhere across the UK’.
